SUMMER PLAYGROUND SITE SUPERVISOR - PART TIME

WESTFIELD RECREATION

The Westfield Recreation Department's Summer Playground Program is currently looking for college grads with an Education or Recreation Degree to be a Site Supervisor! Site Supervisors must assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of participants within activities and throughout the program, assure they are properly supervised. They should be knowledgeable of, and implement, all safety guidelines and nurture each participant's development of social skills and self-esteem, recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving in the group, maintain attendance / incident reports, report issues or concerns by participants to Playground Directors, and strive to resolve conflicts in a healthy and respectful way.

Summer Playground is a 6-week program located in Westfield NJ, from June 29th to August 7th (Off on July 3rd). Work Hours are Monday-Friday from 8:45 AM - 4:00 PM *Varies

Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with childcare, teaching, or camp counseling including working with children in kindergarten through 6th grade required. Applicants must have an appropriate, valid driver's license. A background check is also required. Resumes and References are required for those applying for the Site Supervisor role.

SUMMER CAMP MEDIC

WAYNE TOWNSHIP

The Summer Camp Medic is responsible for providing on-site medical care to campers and staff, ensuring a safe and healthy environment throughout the camp season. This includes managing first aid, handling medical emergencies, administering medications, and providing health education. The role requires a certified healthcare professional with strong medical skills, a calm demeanor in emergency situations, and the ability to collaborate with camp staff to maintain a health-conscious atmosphere.

  1. Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervision of medical records. May act as manager on duty in absence of Summer Camp Director.

Indoors and Outdoors            

  1. Frequently required to stand, walk, talk, hear, sit, and balance. 
  2. Ability to regularly use hands to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls and to reach with hands and arms.  
  3. Routinely must lift, move and carry up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.  
  4. Ability to respond quickly to medical emergencies in a variety of camp settings (outdoors, fields, etc.).
  5. Must be able to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.

Hours/Week: 35-40 hours/week

Salary Range: $20-$40/hour

SUMMER CAMP DIRECTOR

WAYNE TOWNSHIP

Seasonal, Full Time position. Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Township’s summer camp program, ensuring a safe, engaging, and positive experience for campers, staff and families. Will lead a team of counselors and staff, design and implement camp activities, manage scheduling, and maintain compliance with safety regulations. The role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as a passion for working with children and youth.

HS diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Recreation, or a related field preferred. Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a school or camp setting. Previous experience working with children in a camp or educational setting. Prior leadership experience in a camp or youth program is a plus. CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid certification issued through the American Red Cross is required, or the ability to obtain these certifications before camp starts.

Salary: $30-$40/hour

HEALTH COORDINATOR - SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM (HOURLY / EMT OR NURSE REQUIRED)

WARREN TOWNSHIP

The Health Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of campers and staff throughout the summer camp season. Under the supervision of the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director, this position is responsible for providing first aid, conducting daily health monitoring, and maintaining accurate medical documentation. The Health Coordinator also supports daily camp operations and assists with supervision of activities as needed. 

This hourly position runs for five weeks, June 29 through July 31, 2026 (July 3 off), with mandatory training on June 27, 2026. Candidates must be a Certified EMT or Nurse and available for the full camp session. Required qualifications include current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations involving children and families.

The Counselor supports the daily operation of the summer camp program by supervising and engaging assigned campers in a safe, structured, and fun environment. Under the direction of the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director, Counselors are responsible for implementing camp activities, maintaining group supervision, and ensuring compliance with all camp policies and New Jersey Youth Camp Safety Standards. 

This hourly position runs for five weeks, June 29 through July 31, 2026 (July 3 off), with mandatory training on June 27, 2026. Counselors work with either the Playground Program or Teen Camp and must be available for the full camp session. Certification as a teacher or prior teaching experience is preferred but not required. 

Ideal candidates are dependable, organized, and effective communicators who enjoy working with children, can work well as part of a team, and are committed to providing a positive and well-supervised camp experience for campers and their families.

This key management position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, inclusive recreational opportunities for residents of all ages. Seeking a highly motivated Pool Manager to oversee daily operations of the Westfield Memorial Pool & Aquatic Complex. Responsibilities include supervising and scheduling staff, lifeguard rotations, first aid, water chemistry and basic pool maintenance, facility cleanliness, programming (swim lessons and water aerobics), customer service, special events, and all other duties necessary or required.
